Firstly, a belated Happy New Year to all those readers of my Blog both old and new, frequent and infrequent. I hope you all had a good festive period and are refreshed and recharged for the challenges which lie ahead in 2016.
The first week or so of every New Year is a period of reflection for me, when I look back at what I wanted to achieve the previous year and what I actually managed to do. This is particularly relevant for me with regards to my writing ambitions.
Although 2015 saw the publication of book 4 in the Chronicles of Arkadia series, Last stand of old heroes, and two or three short stories published in various anthologies, 2015 was in actual fact a huge disappointment for me. I had begun the year determined to publish book 4, but also to reignite my short story writing career and to immerse myself in at least one new novel. Whilst book 4 was indeed published, I think that I only managed to write four new short stories and enter them for competitions, three of which flunked and one of which I'm still waiting to hear about. As for the new novel(s) - I talked about them a great deal but did next to nothing with regards to writing them. There was a whole host of reasons for this, some of which were justifiable others of which were not so. In fact if I'm honest my lack of productivity can easily be attributed to self-doubt, lack of motivation and pure apathy.
You can't call yourself a writer if you don't write!
So this year I'm going to put that right. The ideas are all in place as I've mentioned many times before on the blog - in fact I have over 40 short story ideas/prompts and perhaps 4 or even 5 plausible novel ideas, so there really is no excuse.
So I'm crossing the Rubicon and there will be no turning back - this year will be one of my most productive.
You have been warned...
