Halfway stutter and another publication

My attempt at trying to write the first 60 000 words of my new novel during the month of November, is starting to falter I have to report. After a pretty good first two weeks where I just about kept pace with the word output I needed to achieve, the last 5 days or so have started to come off the rails. Thursday was just a lost cause where I meddled with a number of things but achieved nothing. Friday I got back to writing, but accomplished little. Saturday was a long overdue trip south to visit family and yesterday... well to be honest I don't know what occurred yesterday, other than I was knackered from getting up at 5.00 am Saturday morning and slept most of the afternoon. Today has been better though, with about 2500 words added. I don't know, this is the first time that I have ever attempted NaNoWrMo and perhaps most writers falter at this stage; I'd certainly like to think so and would take heart from that.

So there are 13 days left and I've just clicked over the 30 000 word mark, putting me roughly 4000 words behind target, or two days behind, however you want to look at it. Working on the assumption that I'm likely to have at least one or two more days like Thursday or Sunday, then somewhere along the line I'm going to have to put in a couple of marathon days of perhaps 5 to 6000 words. I've only ever achieved that a couple of times previously.

I'm determined not to fail and on that note would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my followers on FB and Twitter who have sent me messages of support and encouragement; it is greatly appreciated. In fact one of the nicest by products of this whole adventure has been making new contacts and friends.

Away from the novel writing I'm busy planning a Christmas ghost story for a competition I tend to enter most years. It's one I've been fortunate enough to be very successful in having won it twice (once with a co-writer) and have come fourth on another occasion. I haven't started writing this one yet but have got most of it planned out on a storyboard and am pretty much ready to roll out the first draft whenever I get a spare few hours.

Lastly, following hot on the heels of Thirteen O'Clock Press publishing the anthologies Twisted and Last night, both of which featured stories written by myself, I am pleased to say that yet another one has rolled off the press in time for Christmas, the details of which are below. Hopefully there will be one more publication before Christmas which will make this my most successful publishing year ever.

Christmas, tinsel, gifts, baubles, family gatherings and notably the most likely time of the year for crimes to be committed... blood to be shed... mayhem to ensue. The Thirteen authors have taken the title of this anthology and as always come up with an infinite variety of horror stories set at what should be a time of peace and goodwill to men, but rarely is... Enjoy!
